You need a written Startup Branding Strategy & Business Plan.
Call it a path, direction, business plan, or whatever works for you. The key is that you startup branding strategy plan has to be formal and structured in a way that allows for easy ID of business gaps and needs. Where do you start if you haven’t defined where you need help? Once this is accomplished we have a path to move towards & we are able to gather the support of experts to drive our desired results.
Start With Direction, Without A Written Plan You Waste Time & Money
Often people start with searching for new business marking or startup branding strategy topics that should be easy to find ( we are searching the web for how to be found on the web right?). What seems a simple search of “startup branding” returns 51,800,000 results! Pick any other related term, most would logically think of, and the # of results isn’t any better – the amount of info (real &/or fake) is overwhelming.
The confusion begins to set in pretty quickly, really this is something we have all experienced when searching for something on the web (business and personal).
Where the true “trouble” begins is… You are an inexperienced marketer dipping your toe into the world of the WWW marketers – the first W being key = World. The entire world of internet marketers, skilled IMs, trying to sell you their ideas, products, etc.. What do really good internet marketers do, “with so many sites all vying for attention of the new marketer, they all try to make it sound so easy and simple”, they overwhelm you with information (SEO #s, Stats, & Terms), & offer free reports and reviews.
The problem, as much amazing information they offer so much of it just seems like some kind of easy get rich quick method & we all know there is no viable long term brand strategy that aligns with questionable tactics.
Hopefully this hasn’t happened to you, as it did to me many years ago. Unfortunately many do fall for well marketed, over priced schemes designed to point you in the direction of freely available tools and information (the seller may not even understand), while collecting lots of contact information & money from confused entrepreneurs.
It is just too easy to buy into the idea of overnight viral internet success.
When you are promised everything you need with no work on your part, as good as it sounds, it likely won’t work. Sooner of later you start to wonder how this works for a Doctor, Toy Maker, App Designer & Me? Isn’t Branding personal?
This kind of pitch or showmanship internet marketing works, really works well, & it doesn’t matter what the service or business does they are used universally – read the “pitches” & you may find them strangely similar in message and desired action.
Hopefully you recognize this early & won’t get trapped (experience, customer feedback, & the reality of it is – most will believe one or two of these and waste some time & money), eventually you have to come to the conclusion (on our own) & realize there is no startup brand strategy shortcuts that work the way you need them to work.
What point are you at?
- You are going to give up and focus on your social media page
- Decided everyone is a scammer & look to get professional support.
Relating this to Brand Investors – this is what we have seen lead to many issues for those working on a portfolio.
The next move is usually to dabble in hand registering names, cheap drops, & non .com extensions -while trying to find the secret on your own (no one else ever thought of “” “”, right?) you need to work hard & avoid listening to the false promises or brand lottery tickets & stop trying to be into every new niche without focus on what works..
Building a business, forming your startup branding strategy, & moving forward in a methodical & professional way is essential.
With a true plan you are at a real disadvantage & all to often we have seen new business fall trap & stall.
Very typical of those interested in “domain name investing” – maybe they sell a name or two which may cover the low barrier to entry costs, never really gaining niche expertise, & always swapping and changing direction to what seems the next big thing, hoping to win the lottery, rather than build a business.
Let’s get back to startup branding strategy & an entrepreneur business context.
Do you think any of the world’s successful business men and women just decide to start a new business and then set off? Spending money advertising, gearing up to sell one product then thinking they’ll change to another because it looked a better idea one night, 3 weeks later doing something completely different.
Of course you don’t, and hey you’re smart enough to know that they would research and plan everything they do!
Well, a business on the internet is no different from any other business. I can tell you right now that one of the most important keys that every successful marketer follows is to PLAN what they are going to do and how they are going to go about it.
When you plan trip or are going somewhere you are unfamiliar with, you wouldn’t go with your GPS or at least a map, or (even better) get directions from people who have traveled this road and know the safest route and where the potholes are. You wouldn’t just head out and guess along the way, that would make sense wouldn’t it?
So if you’d like some help in planning how you’re going to build your Brand and Business online, wouldn’t it make sense to look for the support of real people (you can speak with & meet) to help support your venture?
